An attorney from Sean "Diddy" Combs' legal team has reportedly filed to withdraw from the mogul's federal sex trafficking case just months before his trial is set to begin.

According to a report TMZ published on Friday, February 21, Anthony Ricco formally told the Southern District of New York federal court that he can't "continue to effectively serve as counsel for Sean Combs, consistent with the ABA Standards for Criminal Justice." Ricco said there are "sufficient reasons for [the] brevity" in his motion, but did not specify any reasons for his departure. The artist's legal team will continue to be led by Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos.

Ricco joined Combs' legal team after the Bad Boy Records founder was arrested in September 2024. Although he stuck around for the past five months, a source told TMZ Ricco didn't feel he could establish a relationship that would've been necessary to represent him properly, especially during the looming trial. It's not certain why Ricco couldn't mesh with his client. Nonetheless, Combs' legal team is still standing as strong as before.

"There's no crisis," a source told the outlet. "The rules of professional conduct require him to say things that might sound dramatic, and unlike the way people normally speak."

Combs was indicted on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking and kidnapping. He pleaded not guilty and was denied bail. He's currently awaiting his trial, which is scheduled to begin in May, in a jail cell in Brooklyn.
