Atlantic City is set to welcome back its iconic airshow this summer after a yearlong hiatus. The event, now named the Visit Atlantic City Soar & Shore Festival, will take place on Tuesday, July 15, and Wednesday, July 16. This announcement comes as a relief to many, as the popular airshow was canceled last year due to unforeseen obstacles.
The festival will be a joint effort between Visit Atlantic City and the Greater Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce, with Herb Gillen Airshows organizing the event. According to NBC Philadelphia, the airshow has historically drawn over 500,000 visitors, generating an estimated $50 million economic boost for the region.
While the show will not feature headline performers like the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds this year, Visit Atlantic City CEO Gary Musich expressed optimism about rebuilding the event to its former glory. The festival will also include a summer concert series at Boardwalk Hall, funded by a $750,000 budget.
Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small emphasized the importance of the airshow for local businesses and tourism. BreakingAC reported that Small stated, "The Airshow is important for our casinos, businesses, and for our tourism and hospitality industry as a whole."
As the city gears up for the event, additional details and the concert lineup are expected to be announced in the coming months. The return of the airshow marks a significant step in revitalizing Atlantic City's summer attractions and economic vitality.
