Teyana Taylor On Winning Her First Golden Globe Award: 'Our Voices Matter'

Teyana Taylor was in tears as she accepted her first-ever Golden Globe award.

On Sunday night, January 11, the 2026 Golden Globe Awards went down at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. Actresses Amanda Seyfried and Jennifer Garner announced the first award of the night, Best Supporting Actress. Taylor was nominated for her role in One Battle After Another alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn, Regina Hall, and Chase Infiniti. The singer-actress beat out other nominees, including Ariana Grande, Emily Blunt, Elle Fanning, and others. She even got to meet her idol, Julia Roberts, as she approached the podium.

"To my brown sisters and little brown girls watching tonight, our softness is not a liability," Taylor said at the podium. "Our depth is not debt. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter, and our dreams deserve space."

Teyana Taylor has been in her acting bag over the past few years. She's appeared in several major films, including Coming 2 America, A Thousand and One, White Men Can't Jump, The Book of Clarence, and Straw. In addition, Teyana Taylor recently made an incredible comeback to music. After appearing in One Battle After Another, Teyana released her latest album, Escape Room, featuring an all-star cast of contributors like Taraji P. Henson, LaLa Anthony, Niecy Nash, Jill Scott, Issa Rae, Lucky Daye and more.
