Entertainment News: R Kelly's Plea, Opinions on Kamala's Rally, Rep. Lee

R. Kelly has a new strategy to get out of prison. He is asking the Supreme Court to overturn his convictions for possession of child pornography and inducing minors to have sex on a technicality. Kelly's legal team argues that the charges shouldn't stand because the alleged crimes occurred decades before the laws he was charged under were introduced. They contend that the 2020 charges are beyond the statute of limitations and that it's unfair to charge him under the 2003 PROTECT Act since it was enacted after the alleged crimes were committed. Now, it's up to the Supreme Court to review the motion for an appeal and decide if it will proceed.

In other entertainment news, Megan Thee Stallion and rapper Quavo supported VP Kamala Harris at a campaign rally Tuesday night in Atlanta. Social media has been buzzing with opinions, with some critiquing Meg’s performance. Despite this, Meg delivered an endorsement message to women: "If you love your body, vote for Kamala Harris." Quavo also addressed the crowd about violence. So, what do you think?

And finally, in trending headline news, President Biden, Vice President Harris, Former President Bill Clinton, and Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are among the dignitaries scheduled to attend the invitation-only Celebration of Life Funeral Service at Fall Brook Church in Houston today. VP Harris released a statement about the late Congresswoman: "She was relentless, one of the nation’s fiercest, smartest, and most strategic leaders in the way she thought about how to make progress happen."

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee passed away on July 19th after battling pancreatic cancer. She was 74 years old.
